About Alice

I’ve never really been someone who followed a single straight path.

I’ve always been curious about people — what makes us who we are, how we see the world, and why two people can experience the exact same moment in completely different ways.

Expanding horizons

Learning to look beyond my own frame of reference

I've seen how easy it is to assume that our own way of seeing things is standard. But across different places, cultures, and communities, I’ve been struck by how much our background shapes our outlook — and yet, how much we share underneath it all.

On the surface, lives and circumstances look completely different. Underneath, people are navigating the exact same core experiences: belonging, hopes, worries, relationships, ambition, and the simple need to feel understood. Learning to look beyond my own frame of reference has been a constant process of unlearning as much as learning.

That process took a much deeper turn during my Master’s degree in Inclusive Education. It wasn’t just an academic qualification; it genuinely challenged thinking I hadn't recognised I was holding and made me question assumptions I had grown up accepting as default. It opened up a broader exploration into the social sciences, humanity, and the fascinating ways our brains influence how we think, learn, communicate, and experience the world.

BBC News

Working in news was an early lesson in perspective. It showed me how the exact same story or set of facts could be framed, interpreted, and understood in entirely different ways depending on who was telling it and who was listening.

Education

Spending more than 15 years working with children and adults reinforced that lesson up close every day. I saw firsthand just how differently people process information, communicate, and learn — and how crucial it is to meet the individual where they are rather than rely on assumptions.

Movement & practice

Alongside my work in education, I’ve continually explored coaching approaches, positive psychology, and reflective practice. Yoga has also been a constant in my life for many years, leading me to train as a teacher in 2020 alongside my interest in creativity and movement.

The common thread

Looking back, there has always been one real thread through all of it: curiosity.

Curiosity about people.

Curiosity about why we think the way we do.

Curiosity about what happens when we question what we assume to be true.

It’s what brought me to establish The AML Co. — anchored in the belief that there is rarely just one way of seeing a challenge, or one right way forward.
