For Children

Helping Children Realise Their Potential

Children’s Coach — helping children understand themselves, recognise their strengths and find their way forward.

A child-centred space for children who may be finding something difficult at school, at home or within themselves.

For children and young people aged 7–18. Sessions held in person in Leigh-on-Sea and online throughout the UK.

You might recognise

The kind of thing parents describe

Children’s Coach isn’t organised around labels or diagnoses. It starts with the specific thing your child finds difficult.

“My child knows the answer but won’t put their hand up.”

“They don’t ask for help because they’re embarrassed.”

“They want friends but don’t know how to make them.”

“Their friendships have changed and they don’t know where they fit.”

“They get overwhelmed and don’t know what to do.”

“They want to be able to do something but don’t know how to make it easier.”

What is Children’s Coach?

Space to talk, think and try things

Children’s coaching gives children space to talk, think, explore and practise new ways of approaching things.

I work with the child in front of me — their strengths, interests, communication style and what matters to them.

The question at the heart of the work

“What could make this easier?”

How I work

Led by the child, not by a lesson plan

Sessions are individual and flexible. We might talk, draw, move, play, explore ideas or practise something together.

The aim isn’t to tell a child what they should do. It’s to help them understand themselves, recognise their strengths and gradually find strategies and approaches that work for them.

What the first session is like

The first session is about finding the child, not the problem. There is usually something already out on the table — LEGO, a puzzle, drawing. Your child chooses where to sit. We talk about whatever they want to talk about. Silence is allowed.

A first session has done its job if your child feels comfortable enough to come back.

Six-session starting point

Where we begin

  1. Get to know
  2. Go deeper
  3. Try tools together
  4. Test in real life
  5. Make it stick
  6. Look back & grow

Six sessions provide a starting point for focused work. The journey is flexible and may move backwards, forwards or revisit an earlier focus depending on what the child needs.

How the work develops

A framework, not a script

  • Connect
  • Explore
  • Choose
  • Equip
  • Practise
  • Reflect
  • Small step
  • Grow

This is a flexible framework rather than a rigid lesson plan. The stages can repeat, be skipped, revisited or happen in a different order depending on the child.

What this can look like

Child-centred, strengths-based, practical

The work is child-centred, strengths-based, practical, reflective, playful where appropriate, low-pressure, inclusive and individualised.

The child helps shape the focus. Parents provide context. I bring experience, questions, ideas and practical tools to explore together.

When this may not be the right support

Children’s Coach is not the right support where a child needs clinical or therapeutic care, a diagnosis or a formal assessment, or where a situation needs a school or safeguarding process to deal with it.

My role is not to investigate a situation, decide who is at fault or act between a family and a school. If coaching isn’t right, I’ll say so early, and where I can I’ll point you towards more suitable support.

Investment

6 × 45-minute sessions — £360

£360 upfront or 2 × £180.

When paying by instalments, the first £180 is payable before Session 1 and covers Sessions 1–3. The second £180 is due before Session 4 and covers Sessions 4–6.

Important information

Children’s coaching is non-clinical. It is not therapy, counselling, diagnosis or formal assessment.

A parent/carer provides relevant background information and gives consent. The child’s views, comfort and participation remain central to the work.

There is no promise that a particular difficulty will be resolved within six sessions. At the end of the cycle, we review what has been useful and consider whether to continue, change the focus, pause or signpost elsewhere as appropriate.
