Common questions

Questions people ask before getting in touch

If the answer you need isn’t here, ask me directly — that’s what the first conversation is for.

Is this therapy or counselling?

No. Coaching is collaborative, confidential and non-clinical. It is not therapy, counselling, diagnosis, medical treatment, psychological treatment or formal assessment.

Where something falls outside the scope of coaching, appropriate signposting or referral will be considered. Safeguarding takes priority where relevant.

Who is Children’s Coach for?

Children and young people aged 7–18 who are finding something difficult at school, at home or within themselves.

It isn’t organised around labels or diagnoses. It starts with the specific thing your child finds difficult — reading aloud, asking for help, joining in, a friendship that has changed, feeling overwhelmed, or something else entirely.

What happens before we start?

For adult coaching: a brief conversation about what’s bringing you to coaching, what you’re hoping to get from it and whether it feels like the right support. If it feels like a good fit, we arrange your sessions and payment.

For Children’s Coach: a short conversation with you as a parent or carer first, to understand what has brought you to me, what you’re hoping will change and whether my support is appropriate. A parent or carer provides background information and gives consent before I work with your child.

How long are sessions, and how many?

Adults: a block of five 55-minute sessions. It isn’t a fixed programme — we work with what is most useful and change direction as needed.

Children: six 45-minute sessions as a starting point. The journey is flexible and may move backwards, forwards or revisit an earlier focus.

We’ll agree the pattern of sessions when we book.

Where do sessions take place?

In person in Leigh-on-Sea, and online throughout the UK.

What does it cost?

Adult coaching: 5 × 55-minute sessions — £375. Payment arrangements are confirmed when your coaching sessions are booked.

Children’s Coach: 6 × 45-minute sessions — £360. £360 upfront or 2 × £180. When paying by instalments, the first £180 is payable before Session 1 and covers Sessions 1–3. The second £180 is due before Session 4 and covers Sessions 4–6.

Will you tell me everything my child says?

No, and that matters for the work. I’ll give you the big picture of what we are working on, but I won’t routinely repeat everything your child says to me.

If there is a safeguarding concern, I may need to share relevant information to keep them safe.

What if six sessions isn’t enough?

There is no promise that a particular difficulty will be resolved within six sessions. At the end of the cycle we review what has been useful and consider whether to continue, change the focus, pause or signpost elsewhere as appropriate.

The aim is for a child to become gradually more independent — not to need coaching indefinitely.

Do you get involved with my child’s school?

My role isn’t to investigate a situation, decide who is at fault, or act between a family and a school. Where it helps, I can support a child’s confidence, communication and voice while school or safeguarding processes deal with the underlying situation.

Are you DBS checked and insured?

Yes. Alice holds an Enhanced DBS check including the children’s barred list check, and carries professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

The cover includes coaching with children, sessions at her home, online sessions and movement work.
