Enquire about tutoring

Primary learning, entrance exams and home education support, with a qualified primary teacher.

Tell me where your child is now and what you’d like to change. We’ll talk it through before anything is booked, so that the first session starts from something real rather than a guess.

Helpful to include

What to tell me

A short email is fine. These are the things that usually come up first.

  • your child’s age and school year
  • what you’d like help with, and by when
  • any exam or deadline in view — SATs, 11+, entrance
  • any SEND or additional needs I should plan around
  • whether you’d prefer sessions in person or online

No formal diagnosis is needed for me to work with a child who learns differently. Tell me what helps and what doesn’t.

Which of these sounds closest?

Three kinds of support

  1. Everyday learning. Confidence, gaps and keeping pace with school.
  2. Exams and entrance. SATs and CSSE 11+ preparation, at a pace that doesn’t overwhelm.
  3. Home education. A structured programme, additional curriculum support, or bespoke learning after time away from school.

If you’re not sure which fits, say so — working that out is part of the first conversation.

What happens next

Four steps

1. You email

As much or as little detail as you like.

2. We talk

Where your child is now, and what would help.

3. We agree a focus

What we’ll work on, and how often.

4. First session

Starting from strengths, not from a test.

What it costs

One-to-one tutoring is £40 an hour.

Group tutoring is available too — say so in your email and I’ll come back with the details.

Tutoring is not coaching

Tutoring is teaching: subject knowledge, skills and exam preparation. Coaching is a different thing, and it is about how a child thinks, decides and copes.

Some families want one, some want both. If coaching sounds closer to what you need, Children’s Coach is the page to read.

Movement helps too

A child who is anxious about learning often needs something other than more learning. Yoga and movement sits alongside tutoring for exactly that reason.
